Emily CusackHere is Emily Cusack, Matt & Mandy's daughter. She was born in June 2006.

Matt and Mandy bought the run-down property in 2002.  Since then they have designed and built all of the stables and facilities themselves.  Below is a photo diary from start to finish!

Matt digging footingsThe building work started on a cold morning in February 2003.

Finishing off blockworkBy March 03 the general layout and and heavy construction are well under way!

Zed purlins up and batten going onThe steel portal frame had been up since 1991.

Feather edge cladding starts to go upThe plan is to clad the entire barn with timber (feather edge).

Thank god for nail guns! Here's Mandy with the nail gun!

Each stable has at least two windowsIn early April 03 the first load of concrete is down and the outside of the barn is starting to take shape.

3.3m x 3.6m stablesThe stables are made to measure in Fernhurst, by Ascot Timber Buildings.

Happy with the progress. It feels good to get the first stables up!

Still a long way to go!Here you can see the first phase of the project nearly complete. Phase two (a mirror image) should be complete by the end of August 2003.

A close-up of a stableOne of the completed stables. This one measures 3.3m x 3.6m (11'x12').

All the 3.3 x 3.6m stables are readyBy early August one half of the yard is complete!

3.3m x 3.6m (left) & 3.6m x 3.6m (right)By the beginning of October 2003 all nine stables are up and the yard is nearing completion.

CladdingThe barn is now half clad in timber. This provides a weather-proof "skin" to the yard-end of the building.

The fields are now being divided into good sized paddocks with permanent electric fences. (09/09/03)

The start of the arenaWork has started on the 40m x 20m sand and rubber menage. This should be ready for the winter months.(02/10/03)

MenageThe arena area has been dug out and it has been fenced with strong post & rail fencing. We are about to start the drainage work over the next couple of weeks. (27/12/03)

Stone and matting for arenaDrainage stone and matting are in. The sand is arriving soon! (26/01/04)

240 tonnes of stone should allow the rain water to percolate into the land drains - resulting in an all-weather surface!

Completed yard (now in use!)The yard is now complete! It comprises of nine good sized boxes and a 12'x8' secure tack room.

We are constantly improving the property and our facilities, so that we can continue to provide safe, quality accommodation for your horse.
